Lateral Stiffness Test

A Universal Testing Machine measured a 700C WR32-45 rim under a 25 kgf lateral load applied at 0.4 mm/s. Measurements were taken at the valve hole side and at the position perpendicular to it.

Tested rim specification

 Model tested: 700C WR32-45

 External width: 32 mm

 Depth: 45 mm

 Weight: 390 g

Result

Maximum deflection at valve hole side: 3.6 mm

Maximum deflection at perpendicular position: 3.6 mm

Difference between measured points: 0.0 mm

The two measured positions produced the same deflection value, indicating consistent side-to-side flex behavior around the rim.

For the rider, this supports predictable handling and helps confirm that the rim’s layup and structure behave consistently under lateral load.
